GPS Tuner - Outdoor Navigation for Android

GPS Tuner has adopted a philosophy in which it strives to provide a universal Outdoor Navigation application to all of its users across multiple platforms. The key ingredient in its mix of platform offerings was Android; a gaping hole that long time customers have been yearning to fill. GPS Tuner with the help of HelloAndroid’s expert guidance was able to convert all the functionalities of the WP7 application that has been the flagship of the company. On the WP7 GPS Tuner was able to secure and maintain the number 1 and number 2 spots in the navigation category with its Turn by Turn Navigation and Outdoor Navigation applications.
The development effort was extensive and demanding due to the many functions that the base application entails. Special problems were presented to the team in the form of adjusting the code for OSM mapping controls, so that it enabled the correct display functionalities for more than 25 maps that can be interchanged on the fly. Most of the additional problems were related to a graphing display accuracy, such as the charts, where the User has the option to compare up to 5 different tracks in a single chart for advanced analytics of speed, acceleration, or altitude.
